X-ray inspection is a quick, cost-effective method of monitoring product quality. It can highlight defects including missing or broken parts, incorrect assembly, cracks, voids, inclusions, and many other problems. Finding and correcting these problems can increase component reliability and lifetime, and help to avoid costly repairs and replacements.
By using x-ray technology to inspect components or assemblies during the production cycle, defects can be detected early and analysed to determine their cause. Corrections to the production process can be implemented and efficiency increased. This can result in huge cost savings, by avoiding re-work or even scrapping of large volumes of possibly faulty parts.
The X-ray Systems
Electron-X provides a comprehensive in-house inspection service at our facility in Milton Keynes. A wide range of state-of-the-art real-time microfocus x-ray systems are available to suit different sample sizes and types. These include both vertical systems, with a sample tray suitable for the inspection of batches of small samples and PCBs, and horizontal systems, which utilise a turntable for flexible inspection of single larger samples.
All systems have a microfocus X-ray source enabling detection of defects and inclusions down to 5 microns. The sharp resolution and very high magnification (over 1000X is possible), give excellent images of the region of interest on a computer display. The image can be captured, enhanced and stored in a variety of digital formats for storage or post inspection analysis. X-ray energies up to 160kV and 200W are available, which can aid penetration of even some thick and/or dense materials.

Cost-Effective X-Ray Inspection
Electron-X provides a very prompt inspection service. Customers are welcome to visit our facility and bring samples for evaluation or send them by courier. Image results are provided to the customer on CD or can be sent by e-mail.
