Major projects
During the period since Electron-X was formed, the company has undertaken numerous medium and
large design and manufacture projects for x-ray inspection facilities. Several of these have
been prestige installations for major UK companies and a few of the more recent projects are
outlined below.
Electron-X has been involved in all stages of these projects from initiation to completion
including:

- Site suitability and preparation
- Enclosure design and construction
- Door design and installation of doors
- Design and Installation of electrical and safety systems

TWI (Cambridge, UK)
Dimensions (Internal): Single bay 4m wide x 6m long x 3m high
Radiation Source: 420kV and 160kV portable CP x-ray systems
Construction: Below ground pit with 0.5m high concrete parapet, access staircase with lead lined personnel door
Roof: Lead-lined, steel framed roof with motorized rolling lead/steel access door 4m long x 2.3m wide (6 tons)
Safety System: Fully integrated manual changeover system with warning lamps, sounders, door interlocks and emergency stop buttons, all complying with IRR99.
TWI (Port Talbot, Wales)
Dimensions: Single bay 6m wide x 5m long x 4.6m high
Construction: Concrete 0.7m thick
Max radiation: 450kV x-ray
Access: Motorised lead-lined door on steel frame (2.5 tons)
Safety System: Fully integrated system with warning lamps, sounders, door interlocks and emergency stop buttons, all complying with IRR99
Rolls Royce (Derby, UK)
Electron-X carried out the design, supply and installation of a triple concrete x-ray bay at
Rolls Royce Derby as a sub-contractor to X-Tek Industrial, who supplied the x-ray equipment,
safety system and doors.
Dimensions: Triple bay 15m W x 5m D x 4m H
X-Ray Source: Each bay has a pair of moveable 225kV x-ray systems
Construction: Concrete/Magnetite mix 0.4m thick
Safety System: Fully integrated manual changeover system with warning lamps, sounders, door interlocks and emergency stop buttons, all complying with IRR99.
